The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its upcoming production of “Falstaff.”

The company noted that Cristina Pasaroiu will sing the role of Alice Ford, replacing Eleonora Buratto who was forced to cancel her October performances due to a small heath issue.

Pasaroiu is a Romanian soprano who has performed at some of the world’s greatest theaters including the Wiener Staatsoper, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Oper Frankfurt, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, and Opéra de Nice, among others. She is well known for her interpretations in the works of Puccini, Offenbach, Mozart, Meyerbeer, and Verdi, among others.

The soprano will join a cast that includes Bryn Terfel, Vito Priante, Galeano Salas, Deanna Breiwick, Lindsay Ammann, and Daria Proszek. Antonino Fogliani conducts the production by Mateja Koležnik.

“Falstaff” opens on Oct. 15 and will be performed three times.
