Bayerische Staatsoper Announces Cast Change for ‘Der Rosenkavalier’

The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its production of “Der Rosenkavalier”

The company noted that tenor Josh Lovell will step in as the Italian singer for the performance on May 15 replacing Galeano Salas.

Lovell is an ensemble member with the Wiener Staatsoper and the winner of the 39th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition. This season he has performed in productions of “L’elisir d’amore,” “Falstaff,” “Das verratene meer,” “Wozzeck,” “Lucia di Lammermoor,” “Der fliegende Holländer,” “The Seasons,” and “Der Rosenkavalier.” He is also set to make his Teatro alla Scala debut.

Lovell joins a cast that includes Marlis Petersen, Christof Fischesser, Samantha Hankey, Johannes Martin Kränzle, and Liv Redpath.
