The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced that it was allowed to resume performances in the Nationaltheater under very strict rules imposed by the government of Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder.

Per the official statement on the company’s website, the opera house is allowed to occupy 25 percent of the seats in the Nationaltheater as of Wednesday, Nov. 24. If the incidence rate of the city of Munich exceeds 1,000 in the next few days, the Bayerische Staatsoper would have to cancel the performances altogether.

“We cannot predict the development of the incidence values and have therefore decided to sell the performances gradually in order to avoid further cancellations,” added the opera house.

Visitors at the Bayerische Staatsoper will have to comply with the 2G+ rule, which means that even vaccinated and recovered persons will have to test negative for the coronavirus.

The seven-day incidence in Munich currently stands at 681.9.
