Baritone Stéphane Degout Cancels Recital at Palau de la Música Catalana Due to Illness

French baritone Stéphane Degout has canceled his recital at Palau de la Música Catalana on Dec. 20, 2021 due to illness.

The baritone was supposed to perform “Dichterliebe” by Schumann, and music by such composers as Fauré, Guy Ropartz, and Duparc alongside pianist Simon Lepper.

Mezzo-soprano Helena Ressurreição was slated to give an introduction alongside pianist Ester Lecha.

The baritone is next scheduled to perform the title role in Ambroise Thomas’ “Hamlet” alongside Sabine Devieilhe, Sylvie Brunet-Grupposo and Pierre Derhet at the Opéra Comique in Paris in Jan. and Feb. 2022, before taking on the role of Nikalantha in Delibes’ “Lakmé” alongside Sabine Devieilhe and Xabier Anduaga at the Teatro Real in March 2022.

Degout will also appear at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Berlioz’s “Les Troyens” in May and July 2022.
