Baritone Kennedy Dankwa to Celebrate Black History Month at Cathedral of St. John the Divine

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine will continue its weekly online music recitals on Tuesday, Feb. 16 with a showcase featuring organ scholar Samuel Kuffuor-Afriyie and baritone Kennedy Dankwa.

The duo will perform a recital dedicated to Black composers in honor of Black History Month.

Among the pieces set to be performed are “Joshua Fit the Battle” by Fela Sowande; “Adoration” by Florence Price; “Wonya amane” by Mafro Patahunu; “Yoruba Lament,” also by Sowande;” and “Tatale” by Samuel Kuffuor-Afriyie, among others.

The showcase kicks off at 6 p.m. and runs for approximately 45 minutes. Audiences can check it out on the Cathedral’s official Facebook page or YouTube channel. The concert will also be available on the official website.
