Barbara Hannigan, Natascha Petrinsky & Bo Skovhus Lead La Monnaie’s Free Stream of ‘Lulu’

La Monnaie Opera House in Brussels will stream Alban Berg’s opera “Lulu” until Jan. 24, 2022.

The opera stars Natascha Petrinsky as Gräfin Geschwitz; Bo Skovhus in the roles of Dr. Schön & Jack The Ripper; Toby Spence as Alwa; Pavlo Hunka as Schigolch; and Barbara Hannigan in the title role. The cast also includes Lilly Jørstad, Martin Winkler, Gérard Lavalle, Rainer Trost, Florian Hoffmann, Georg Festl, Julie Mathevet, Mireille Capelle, Beata Morawska, Lucas Cortoos, and Kris Belligh.

Alain Altinoglu conducts a production by Krzysztof Warlikowski, with set design by Małgorzata Szczęśniak.

La Monnaie is currently in the middle of a run of Bellini’s “Norma” starring Enea Scala, Sally Matthews, Lidia Fridman, Michele Pertusi, and Raffaella Lupinacci. The opera house has been limited to 200 spectators per show due to restrictions imposed by the ongoing spread of COVID-19.
