Bampton Classical Opera Unveils 2023 Season

Bampton Classical Opera has unveiled its 2023 season.

It all kicks off with the double bill of Haydn’s “The Diva” and “The Apothecary” at St. Andrew’s Church in Aldoborough for its initial June performance. The operas will star Iúnó Connolly, Henry Ross, Guy Benyon, and Madeline Robinson. Mark Austin conducts and Jeremy Gray directs.

Performance Date: June 15, 2023

Next up is a summer production of Salieri’s “La fiera di Venezia.”  There will be productions in Oxfordshire, Gloucerstershire, and London. Jeremy Gray directs with Thomas Blunt conducting. The opera will star Ellen Mawhinney, Joanna Songi, Iúnó Connolly, Andrew Henley, Aaron Kendall, and Peter van Hulle.

Performance Dates:  July 21 – Sept. 13, 2023

The company will then showcase Haydn’s “The Apothecary” at The Barn at Old Walland in East Sussex.

Performance Date: Sept. 9, 2023

The season comes to a close with the Bampton Classical Opera Young Singers’ Competition in Oxford.

Performance Date: Nov. 25, 2023

There will also be costume, prop, and artefact exhibitions throughout the summer months.
