Bampton Classical Opera Announces Finalists for 2021 Young Singers’ Competition

Bampton Classical Opera has announced its Young Singers’ Competition 2021 Finalists.

Finalists include soprano Jessica Cale, mezzo-soprano Frances Gregory, soprano Sophie Sparrow, soprano Shafali, baritone Dan D’Souza, and soprano Cassandra Wright. Judges for this year’s competition include tenor Bonaventura Bottone, vocal teacher Jennifer Dakin, and accompanist and conductor Phillip Thomas.

The first prize will take home a cash prize of £2,000 with the second prize-winning £1,000. There will also be £600 Accompanists’ Prize.

The final is set for Nov. 28, 2021 at the Holywell Music Room in Oxford.

The competition was created in 2013 as a celebration of the organization’s 20th anniversary. Past winners include Anna Starushkevych, Galina Averina, Emma Stannard, Lucy Anderson, Kevai Shah, and Dylan Perez. This is the fifth edition of the competition, which takes place every two years.
