Bampton Classical Opera Announces 2022 Opera Production

By David Salazar

Bampton Classical Opera has announced that it will present Haydn’s “Il mondo della luna” as its 2022 production.

This will be the third of Haydn’s operas that the company will be presenting. It will be sung in a new English translation by Gilly French with Jeremy Gray directing. Thomas Blunt will conduct the cast, which will be announced at a future date.

The opera is set for three performances throughout the summer and autumn months. The production will premiere at The Deanery Garden in Bampton, Oxfordshire on July 22 and 23 before heading to the Westonbirt School in Glos on August 29, 2022. Then it will be presented at St. John’s Smith Square in London in autumn of 2022.

Bampton Classical Opera is in the midst of a Gluck-inspired season that has seen the company present the composer’s “Paris and Helen” and “The Crown.”
