Baden-Baden Easter Festival & Berlin Philharmonic Extend Collaboration

The Baden-Baden Easter Festival and ⁦Berlin Philharmonic have extended their collaboration. 

Benedikt Stampa, director of the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and Andrea Zietzschmann, director of the foundation of the Berlin Philharmonic announced that the two would continue their collaboration beyond 2022. The announcement also noted that the 2023 festival will have a focus on Richard Strauss.

The 2022 season will feature a new production of Tchaikovsky’s “The Queen of Spades” while in 2023 R. Strauss’ “Die Frau Ohne Schatten” will be revived with a new directorial vision. Audiences can also look forward to another R. Strauss opera in 2024, though which one will be announced at a later date.

The Easter Festival was recently announced with Tchaikovsky’s “Mazeppa” headlining alongside performances of Mozart’s Requiem. The festival will also present Rachmaninoff’s “Francesca da Rimini.”
