The Bach Choir of Bethlehem will present the Thomanerchor at its Gala Concert and Fundraiser on March 8, 2025.
The Thomanerchor is a renowned boys’ choir that hails from Leipzig, Germany. The ensemble, which was founded in 1212, is comprised of 90 boys from ages nine through 18. Between 1723 and 1750, the ensemble was led by none other than Johann Sebastian Bach. They will appear with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem one day before they head to Carnegie Hall for a major performance.
“Welcoming the Thomanerchor to Bethlehem is an extraordinary honor for The Bach Choir and our community. Their music has a purity and passion that resonates in your soul—it’s something you don’t just hear; you feel it. When the Bach Choir visited Leipzig last summer and performed in Bach’s home church, we experienced firsthand the profound musical power of the Thomanerchor,” said Leela Breithaupt, Executive Director of the Bach Choir of Bethlehem, per an official press release.
The event kicks off at 4 p.m. local time at the Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Proceeds will be used to strength the Bach Choir of Bethlehem’s Educational and Community Engagement programs.
