Bach Choir of Bethlehem Announces 2022-23 Season

The Bach Choir of Bethlehem in Pennsylvania has unveiled its 2022-23 season, which marks the organizations 125th anniversary.

There will be nine “Bach at Noon” concerts led by Artistic Director and Conductor Christopher Jackson.

Performance Dates: Sept. 13, 2022  – August 8, 2023

The Bel Canto Youth Chorus will also perform in a number of events. The first of these is a Winter concert.

Performance Date: Dec. 4, 2022

The company will also present a series of Christmas Concerts featuring performances of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with such soloists as Nola Richardson, Janna Critz, Lawrence Jones, and David Newman.

Performance Date: Dec. 10 & 11, 2022

The Bel Canto Youth Chorus will then celebrate with a 30th anniversary alumni recital.

Performance Date: Dec. 29, 2022

There will be a family concert featuring a number of youth choirs.

Performance Date: Feb. 19, 2023

The first Spring concert will feature music by Bach and Händel with such soloists as Sherezade Panthaki, Daniel Taylor, Isaiah Bell, and Harrison Hintzsche. The concert will include Bach’s Easter Oratorio and Händel’s “Messiah.”

Performance Date: March 26, 2023

There will also be a Spring concert featuring the Bel Canto Youth Chorus as it takes on music by Bach, Nick Page, Joan Szymko, and Ysaye Barnwell, among others.

Bethlehem Bach Festival

There will be a lecture on Bach’s “Alle smit Gott” BWV 1127 by Dr. Michael Maul who came across the musical score for the aria back in 2005 when he was digging through the Central German Archives.

Performance Date: May 12 & 19, 2022

There will be a performance of Bach’s Cantata “Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit,” the aria “Alles mit Gott,” BWV 1127 and motets by Johann Michael Bach.

Performance Date: May 12 & 19, 2022

There will be performances of Bach’s “Aus der Tiefen ruf ich, Herr, zu dir” and “Ich  hatte viel Bekümmernis in meinem Herzen.”

Performance Date: May 12 & 19, 2022

There will be a couple of performances of music by Vivaldi and Bach’s “Wir eilen mit schwachen doch emsigen Schritten.” The concert will include cellist Loretta O’Sullivan.

Performance Date: May 13 & 20, 2022

There will be a performance of the second part of Bach’s Mass in B Minor. The latter performance will be live-streamed.

Performance Date: May 13 & 20, 2022
