Azrieli Music Prizes Announces 2020 Laureates

By Logan Martell

On October 22, 2020, The Azrieli Foundation will present its biennial Azrieli Music Prizes Gala Concert, featuring the world premiere of works by the three 2020 AMP Laureates.

The concert will be free to stream via Medici TV and Azrieli Music Prizes’ Facebook page.

The winners are Keiko Devaux, whose work “Arras,” draws from her French and Japanese-Canadian heritage; Yotam Haber, whose “Estro poetico-armonico III” will feature a mezzo-soprano and chamber orchestra; and Yitzhak Yedid, whose work “Kadosh Kadosh and Cursed,” consists of 20 musical tableaux that bridge a number of contrasting compositional styles.

The concert will also include Le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, who will be making their Medici TV debut under the baton of their founder Lorraine Vaillancourt. Soprano Sharon Azrieli and mezzo Krisztina Szabó will join as soloists.

Azrieli and Le NEM will also perform Jonathan Monro’s new arrangement of Pierre Mercure’s song cycle “Dissidence.”
