Aviva Fortunata, Carolyn Sproule Headline Pacific Opera Victoria’s 2019-20 Season

The Pacific Opera Victoria has announced its 2019-20 season, which will include four opera productions and two premieres.

The season kicks off with Puccini’s “Il Trittico” which will be directed by Glynis Leyshon. The opera will feature Aviva Fortunata, Adam Luther, and Todd Thomas.

Performance Dates: Oct. 17-27, 2019

Jonathan Dove and April de Angelis’ “Flight” will make its Canadian premiere in a production by Morris Panych.

Performance Dates: Feb. 20-March 1, 2020

Mezzo-soprano Carolyn Sproule will headline a new production of “Carmen” alongside tenor Jean-Michel Richer as Don José. Serge Denoncourt will direct the new production.

Performance Dates:  April 16-26, 2020

Finally, Maxime Goulet, Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas and Barry Gilson’s “The Flight of the Hummingbird” will make its premiere with the company as part of a co-production with Vancouver Opera.

Performance Dates: March 19-22, 2020
