Austin Opera is offering up its own unique streaming service during this time when people are engaged with social distancing to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Each Friday, the company will offer up a 30-minute recital of music recorded live in their rehearsal hall. The videos will be sent out live on Faccebook and YouTube, though there might be more channels through which audiences can check out the content.

The first of these programs took place on March 20, 2020 and featured soprano Elena Villalon alongside Nyle Matsuoka on the piano.

Villalón was the Audience Choice Award winner in HGO’s 2019 Eleanor McCollum Competition Concert of Arias. She was also one of the winners of the 2019 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
