By Francisco Salazar

The Dutch National Opera is set to present a new production of “Die Frau ohne Schatten.”

The opera will be presented in a new production by Katie Mitchell and will be conducted by Marc Albrecht. In Mitchell’s production, she critically dissects the opera’s conservative ideals in her own fashion.

The opera will star soprano Aušrinė Stundytė as the Dyer’s Wife, bass-baritone Josef Wagner as Barak, AJ Glueckert as The Emperor, and Daniela Köhler as his wife, The Empress. The cast is rounded out by mezzo-soprano Michaela Schuster as the Nurse.

“Die Frau ohne Schatten” is set to be presented six times from April 23 through May 10, 2025.
