On June 28, the Festival di Musica Barocca di Palermo will present a concert titled “Ariosi d’Ombra e di Luce.”

The evening will showcase baroque arias featuring contralto Aurora Bruno accompanied by Silvio Natoli (viola da gamba, liuto) and Giosuè D’Asta (organ).

They will perform works by Monteverdi, Purcell, Cavalli, Porpora, and Handel as well as Kapsberger, Sweelinck, and Piccinini.

In a statement, D’Asta said, “A concert that wants to touch intimate and universal chords. Baroque music, with its dramatic tension and irregular beauty, still speaks to us today with extraordinary force. And not as a relic, but as a living presence, as a shared experience.”

Bruno has performed with the Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana al Teatro Politeama Garibaldi as well as with the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova and the Festival di Musica Barocca di Palermo. She has also collaborated with the chorus “Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina” di Palermo.
