Aurelia Florian, Maximilian Schmitt & Daeho Kim Lead Oper Graz’s 2021-22 Season

For the performances of this article, we will only focus on operatic and vocal performances.
Opera
Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino“ will receive a new production by Eva-Maria Höckmayr and will star Aurelia Florian, Mariusz Godlewski, Jordan Shanahan, Aldo Di Toro, Mareike Jankowski, and Timo Riihonen. Matteo Beltrami and Marcus Merkel conducts.
Performance Dates: Oct. 2-Dec. 5, 2021
Andrei Danilov, Joanna Zawartko, Neven Crnić, and Tetiana Miyus star in Puccini’s “La Bohème“ with conductors Roland Kluttig and Marius Burkert. The production will also star Dariusz Perczak, Daeho Kim, Markus Butter, and Ivan Oreščanin.
Performance Dates: Oct. 6-Dec. 26, 2021
Markus Butter, Sieglinde Feldhofer, Matthias Koziorowski, Anna Brull, and Ivan Oreščanin headline a production of Dostal’s “Clivia.” Marius Burkert and Julian Gaudiano conduct the new production by Frank Hilbrich.

Bizet’s “Les pêcheurs de perles“ will star Tetiana Miyus, Andrzej Lampert, Dariusz Perczak, and Daeho Kim. Marcus Merkel and Marius Burkert conduct the production by Ben Baur.
Performance Dates: Nov. 27, 2021-April 7, 2022
Weinberg’s “Švanda dudák” will star Denis Milo, Polina Pastirchak, Matthias Koziorowski, Anna Brull, Daeho Kim, and Wilfried Zelinka. Marius Burkert and Robert Jindra conduct the new production by Dirk Schmeding.

Wagner’s “Der fliegende Holländer“ will star Kyle Albertson in the title role, Helena Juntunen, Wilfried Zelinka, Maximilian Schmitt, and Mareike Jankowski. Marcus Merkel and Roland Kluttig conduct the new production by Sandra Leupold.
Performance Dates: April 23-June 12, 2022
Wagner’s “Der Ring an einem Abend” will be conducted by Roland Kluttig and star Kyle Albertson, Mario Lerchenberger, Markus Butter, Mareike Jankowski, Sieglinde Feldhofer, Corina Koller, Daniel Kirch, Betsy Horne, and Alexandra Petersamer.
Performance Dates: May 5 & 22, 2022
“Alles nicht wahr” will be performed in a new production.
Performance Date: Sept. 26, 2021
“Zeit. Vergänglich” will be performed.

Concerts
The opening concert will be “Eröffnungskonzert” featuring works by Hass and Strauss.

Marcus Merkel conducts the advent concert with soloists Sieglinde Feldhofer and Markus Butter.

The New Year’s concert will feature music by Johannes Brahms, Zóltan Kodály, George Enescu, Maurice Ravel, Johann Strauß, and Emmerich Kálmán.

Maximilian Schmitt sings Schubert’s “Winterreise.”
