Aural Compass Projects to Present ‘The Greatest Personal Privation’

Jasmine Barnes’ new work, commissioned by Aural Compass Projects “The Greatest Personal Privation” will make its premiere next month.

Countertenor Key’mon Murrah and pianist Donald Lee III will bring to life Barnes’ score and Poet Laureate (2017-2019) and Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy K. Smith’s words.

Also on the program is Barnes’ song cycle “Might Call You Art” for Soprano and String Quartet sang by soprano Chabrelle Williams, as well as Jessie Montgomery’s “Strum” for String Quartet performed by the Bismuth Quartet.

Philadelphia’s Trinity Center for Urban Life will host the concert and talkback/Q&A with Tracy K. Smith and Jasmine Barnes on April 15 at 7:30 p.m.
