The Teatro La Fenice was protested following a concert on Oct. 31, as audience members threw leaflets throughout the theater.

The protest was due to the lack of transparency in the selection of the company’s new Music Director.

This is the second time this has happened at the theater since the selection of Beatrice Venezi as the Music Director.

The Teatro La Fenice has been under scrutiny since its decision, as numerous Italian companies have shown solidarity with the company’s orchestra, and the Teatro La Fenice Workers announced a permanent strike. The opening night performance of “Wozzeck” was also canceled.

According to workers, Venezi has never conducted at the Teatro La Fenice, and the appointment was made without any transparency.
