Audience Member Hit by Phone at the Teatro alla Scala Performance

By Francisco Salazar

During the opening night performance of Mozart’s “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” on Feb. 25, an audience member was hit by a phone that fell from another section of the opera house.

According to a report from Ansa, the spectator, who was sitting in the first row, was hit in the cheek. The audience member immediately screamed and said he would, “report it.”

During the interval, the hit audience member told the ushers that he would keep the smartphone until the owner arrived to report him.

The rest of the performance continued without any incident. “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” is currently being conducted by Thomas Guggeis and is set to star Jessica Pratt, Sven-Eric Bechtolf, Jasmin Delfs, Daniel Behle, Michael Laurenz, and Peter Rose.
