Atalla Ayan, Vuvu Mpofu & Petr Nekoranec Lead Opéra National de Lorraine’s 2023-24 Season

France’s Opéra National de Lorraine has announced its 2023-24 season featuring opera and concerts.

Opera 

Marta Gardolińska conducts Mozart’s Idomeneo in a new production by Lorenzo Ponte. Atalla Ayan sings the title role alongside Héloïse Mas, Siobhan Stagg, Amanda Woodbury, and Léo Vermot-Desroches.

Performance Dates: Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 2023

Lucio Gallo, Vuvu Mpofu, Anicio Zorzi Giustiniani, and Germán Olvera star in Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale.” Giulio Cilona conducts the new production by Timothy Sheader.

Performance Dates: Dec. 15-23, 2023

Petr Nekoranec, Gwendoline Blondeel, Jean-Christophe Lanièce, Lucile Richardot, Etienne Bazola, Alex Rosen, and Hélène Patarot star in Charpentier’s “David and Jonathan.” 

Performance Dates: Jan. 14-18, 2024

Marta Gardolińska conducts Haydn’s “The Creation” in a production by Kevin Barz. Julie Roset, Jonas Hacker, and Sam Carl star. 

Performance Dates: Feb. 18-23, 2024

Joël Terrin, Benny Claessens, James Kryshak, Ava Dodd, Marjan De Schutter, and Nicola Beller Carbone star in Kurt Weill’s “The Silver Lake.” Gaetano Lo Coco conducts.

Performance Dates: April 14-20, 2024

The season comes to a close with Bellini’s “I Capuleti e I Montecchi” with Julie Boulianne, Yaritza Véliz, Donnie Ray Albert, David Astorga, and Manuel Fuentes.  Ramón Tebar conducts the production by Pınar Karabulut.

Performance Dates: June 23-29, 2024

Concerts

Marta Gardolińska and Hélène Carpentier team up for a program of music by Théodore Akimenko, Alma Mahler and Gustav Mahler.

Performance Dates: Feb. 1 & 2, 2024

Guillaume Fauchère conducts Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle.

Performance Date: March 24, 2024
