Aspen Music Festival Announces Cast Changes for Two Programs

The Aspen Music Festival has announced cast changes for its July 15 and July 19 performances.

The company said that Countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo will fill in for Joyce DiDonato, who is unable to perform in Aspen due to injury.

Costanzo is in Aspen to sing the starring role of Oberon in Benjamin Britten’s opera “Midsummer Night’s Dream” from July 20 to 22. Costanzo will now join Summers for a program that will include Handel arias mixed with contemporary music.

Christine Goerke will also fill in for DiDonato on July 19, in a program that includes a new piece by Matthew Aucoin.

Cristian Măcelaru will conduct the concert that also includes music by Barber and Enescu with violinist Augustin Hadelich.
