Asmik Grigorian Reveals Upcoming Projects At Met Opera, Bayreuth, Royal Opera House, Salzburg, Paris

Lithuanian soprano Asmik Grigorian has revealed a her upcoming assignments in an interview with “Capriccio,” a Swedish website that covers the opera world.

The soprano revealed that she will make her debut at the Metropolitan Opera during the 2019-20 season, taking on the title roles of “Salome” and “Madama Butterfly.” She also noted that she will return in a subsequent season to sing Jenny in “The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny.”

Also during the season 2019-20, Grigorian will make other notable debuts: at the Royal Opera House and l’Opéra national de Paris in the title role of “Jenufa” and at Teatro Real Madrid in the title role of “Rusalka.” She is also slated for a debut at the Wiener Staatsoper in a role to be announced.

Asmik Grigorian made her first appearance at the Salzburg Festival in 2017 as Marie in “Wozzeck.” She returned last summer to sing the title role of Salome in Romeo Castellucci’s production, a role she will repeat at the same festival in August 2019.

The Lithuanian soprano is also scheduled to make her debuts at Bayreuth in the summer of 2021 as Senta in “Der Fliegende Holländer.”
