Asmik Grigorian, Louise Alder, Olesya Golovneva Lead New CD/DVD Releases

This week audiences will get to see a compilation of Tchaikovsky songs, a Händel Oratorio and a solo album by one of the leading sopranos of today.
Neun Deutsche Arien
LAWO Classics is set to release Daniel Sæther’s album with the Ensemble C4. The album will feature Georg Friedrich Händel’s Neun Deutsche Arien and Antonio Vivaldi’s Trio Sonata in G minor, RV 63 “La Follia” transposed and adapted for treble recorder and violin.
Handel: Theodora
Louise Alder, Tim Mead, Anna Stéphany, Stuart Jackson, and Adam Plachetka star in the new recording of Händel’s oratorio. The Arcangelo ensemble will be conducted by Jonathan Cohen. ALPHA releases the recording,
Laws Of Solitude: Strauss Four Last Songs
For her new recording, soprano Asmik Grigorian presents both versions of Richard Strauss’s “Four Last Songs,” composed in 1948: the version with orchestra and the much rarer version with piano. Grigorian is joined by two long-time collaborators conductor Mikko Franck, leading the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and pianist Markus Hinterhäuser, artistic director of the Salzburg Festival.
None but the Lonely Heart
Oper Frankfurt stages Tchaikovsky songs by Christof Loy. Filmed on February 24–26, 2021, the cast includes Olesya Golovneva, Kelsey Lauritano, Andrea Carè, Vladislav Sulimsky, Mikołaj Trąbka, Mariusz Kłubczuk, and Nikolai Petersen. Michael Beyer directs the film. Naxos releases the DVD.
