Armenian Soprano Takes Center Stage at the Metropolitan Opera

This week the Metropolitan Opera’s “La Boheme” returns to the stage with a young cast of rising stars. Among them will be Juliana Grigoryan, who will sing her first lead role at the Metropolitan after debuting in 2024.
The Armenian soprano will sing the role of Mimi, which she has already performed at the Ravenna Festival and the Arena di Verona to great acclaim.
Ever since winning Operalia, Grigoryan has become one of the most promising opera stars in the world, singing at some of the most important theaters in the including the Teatro alla Scala, Dutch National Opera, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Royal Opera House, and Staatsoper Berlin.
Grigoryan is the winner of the first prize at the Stanislaw Moniuszko International Vocal Competition, she also received the Marcella Sembrich-Kochańska Prize and the Krystyna Bochenek Prize. She is also the Hilde Behrens Prize.
Audiences that are not in the audience in New York for the performances, the soprano’s “la Boheme” will be broadcast live in HD. The soprano is also set to perform at the Atlanta Opera and Royal Opera House in productions of “Turandot.”
