Lithuanian Soprano Brings Acclaimed Salome To Italian Audiences

In 2018, Ausrine Stundyte made her role debut as Salome at the Berlin State Opera and immediately became a sensation in the role. Critics said, “Stundyte is a consummate stage animal, and acts her heart out in the part.” Now after a sensational debut and rave reviews, the soprano is taking her acclaimed portrayal to the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.

Stundyte will make her company debut under the direction of Juraj Valčuha and with an extraordinary cast. Over the last few seasons, the soprano has made numerous debuts in some of the biggest houses in the world to great acclaim. She has conquered such operas as “Madama Butterfly,” “The Fiery Angel,” “Elektra,” “La Gioconda,” and “Fidelio.” With so much acclaim, there is no doubt that this new debut will continue to raise her profile in the world and that she is sure to become one of the most sought after “Salome” interpreters of her generation.

And for those not present in Bologna, Stundyte will make her  Opéra National de Paris debut in “Lady Macbeth of Mtsenk” as well as her Wiener Staatsoper debut during the 2019-20 season in the title role of “Salome.” She also has performances at the Teatro Arriaga Bilbao.
