Armenian Baritone Steps to Major Roles at the Glyndebourne Festival

This week, the Glyndebourne Festival is set to open its autumn festival, featuring several rising stars. Among those is Armenian baritone Aksel Daveyan, who is making his debut with the company.

Over the years, the baritone has established himself as one of the most promising baritones of his generation. Over the years, he has appeared at the Zürich Opera in several roles, including Il Maestro in Donizetti’s “Viva la mamma,” Morales in “Carmen, Sciarrone in “Tosca,” and a Page in “Roberto Devereux,” among others.

Now with Marcello, Daveyan is starting to step into lead roles on the international stage. The role will be the first of major roles this season which will also include Albert in “Werther” at Zurich Opera House, and Figaro in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” at Bonn and Oldenburg.

He is also set to sing Giorgio Germont in “La Traviata, among many other important roles.
