ARTE to Stream ‘Tristan und Isolde’ with Nina Stemme & Stuart Skelton from Festival Aix-en-Provence

By Francisco Salazar

On July 8, ARTE TV will stream Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” from the Festival Aix-en-Provence in France.

The new production by Simon Stone is headlined by Stuart Skelton and Nina Stemme in the title roles, Jamie Barton as Brangäne, Josef Wagner as Kurwenal, Franz-Josef Selig as König Marke, and Dominic Sedgwick as Melot. Sir Simon Rattle conducts the production.

The production reunited Skelton and Stemme, who previously performed the roles at the Metropolitan Opera during the 2016-17 season. They will also sing the opera at the Bayerische Staatsoper next season.

The stream is one of the three operas ARTE will broadcast this summer. The Aix-en-Provence International Lyric Art Festival and ARTE have had a long-standing association over the years.

The platform will also showcase “Innocence” and “Le Nozze di Figaro.” Mezzo.TV also broadcast the festival’s production of “Falstaff” by Barrie Kosky.
