Arizona Opera Cancels ‘Rigoletto’ Screening

By Francisco Salazar

The Arizona Opera has canceled its screening of “Rigoletto” on July 20.

The company said, “due to unforeseen circumstances, we, unfortunately, must cancel Wednesday night’s screening of ‘Rigoletto’ in Tucson. Anyone who purchased tickets for Wednesday’s screening will be receiving a refund.”

The company, however, did confirm that Sunday’s screening in Phoenix will continue as scheduled.

The screening is part of the Arizona Opera Film Festival which is showing a production of Verdi’s masterwork from the San Francisco Opera. The recording stars baritone Željko Lučić, in the title role, soprano Aleksandra Kurzak as Gilda, and tenor Francesco Demuro as the Duke of Mantua. Maestro Nicola Luisotti conducts the production by Harry Silverstein.

The company next screens “The Copper Queen” at the beginning of August.
