Ariane Matiakh Terminates Contract with Staatskapelle & Opera Halle

French conductor Ariane Matiakh has terminated her contract as the General Music Director of the Staatskapelle and Opera Halle.

In a statement, the company noted, “Theatre, Opera and Orchestra GmbH Halle and Ms. Ariane Matiakh have agreed to cancel the contract of the General Music Director of the Staatskapelle Halle on 01.31.2929 at the request of Ms. Matiakh.”

Matiakh, the rising French conductor, was appointed the General Music Director of the Staatskapelle and Opera Halle in September 2019 and has since conducted a wide range of opera, ballet, symphonic works, contemporary compositions and baroque music.

Recently she conducted Massenet’s “Werther” at the Opéra National du Rhin. This season she is set to conduct Puccini’s “La Bohème” at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden  and Bizet’s “Carmen” at Den Norske Opera.

Matiakh will also conduct all her scheduled concerts with the Staatskapelle Halle.
