The Dallas Opera has announced “Fiesta de la Ópera,” a free concert celebrating Latin heritage, set for Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, at the Winspear Opera House.

Curated by tenor Anthony León, who is set to star in the company’s upcoming production of “L’Elisir d’Amore,” the program bridges classical opera hits with celebrated Latin and salsa music. León will perform alongside guest artists, supported by The Dallas Opera Orchestra and a six-piece Latin band featuring piano, bass, conga, timbale, trumpet, and trombone. TDO Head of Music and Chorus Director Paolo Bressan will conduct.

“It’s going to be an incredible time celebrating our culture in opera and on the classical stage,” said León in an official press release. “What’s beautiful about Latinos and opera is that we’ve always been there in the story. There are so many amazing Latino singers and artists who have contributed to this art form and changed it forever.”

The initiative marks another cultural milestone for the company under the leadership of Kern Wildenthal General Director and CEO David Lomelí, the first Latino to hold a top artistic leadership position at a Level 1 U.S. opera company.

“In my culture, music is essential to life,” added Lomelí. “It is always played at parties or fiestas, or when you are having guests in your home. I want this concert to feel like a welcome celebration to our artistic home for the Latin community.”

The performance will run approximately 80 minutes with one intermission and features supertitles in both English and Spanish.
