Sydney, Australia’s community-based, youth performing arts organization, Sydney Eisteddfod, has announced a leadership change.

As of Jan. 10, 2022, the organization has a new General Manager, Annette Brown. Brown comes to Sydney Eisteddfod having held positions at the Australian Music Examination Board, The Australian Youth Orchestra, Sydney Youth Orchestra, and Musica Viva. Brown’s most recent position was that of the manager of the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra.

Brown’s appointment fills the role vacated by the retirement of CEO, Piroozi Desai-Keane OAM, who spent 40 years with the organization, 15 of which as GM.

“I have a passion for encouraging the next generation to achieve their dreams,” stated Brown in the organization’s press release. “I jumped at the opportunity to head up Sydney Eisteddfod. I already have such great ideas and ambitions for its future as they provide performance opportunities for all.”

Sydney Eisteddfod provides young people with development opportunities within the performing arts through education, professionally judged competitions, and its annual festival, which features over 300 performing arts events for young people aged 6-35 and runs from May through September at venues across Sydney.
