Annenberg Center to Present West Coast Premiere of Golijov’s ‘Falling Out of Time’

By Afton Wooten

The Grammy-winning composer Osvaldo Golijov’s new song cycle “Falling Out of Time” will make its west coast premiere at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Oct. 27.

The concert will take place at the Wallis’ Bram Goldsmith Theater in Beverly Hills, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

“Falling Out of Time” is based on David Grossman’s novel by the same name which explores parents’ grief at the loss of a child, as well as the current state of the world and its natural order. The work is scored for three voices, electronics, string quintet, kemanche, percussion, pipa, sheng, and trumpet. The vocal soloists include Biella da Costa, Noam Enbar, and soprano Nora Fischer, along with other members of the Silkroad Ensemble.

There will be a pre-concert talk with the artists at 6:30 p.m. moderated by Classical California KUSC’s Brian Lauritzen.
