Annapolis Opera has announced that it will host a virtual gala and online auction event under the name “Passing the Baton” set for Oct. 17, 2020.

During the event, the Annapolis Opera will mark the transition of its directorship, and also try to raise funds in these challenging times. Retiring Artistic Director Ronald Gretz will hand over the directorship to the new Artistic and Music Director Craig Kier. Gretz had been with the company for over 30 years.

The Virtual Gala will feature live and recorded performances by the Annapolis Opera singers including soprano Colleen Daly, tenor Jonas Hacker, soprano Shannon Jennings, bass Kenneth Kellog, and soprano Daisha Togawa.

The auction will be held from Oct. 10 through Oct. 18. 2020.

The mission of the Annapolis Opera is to enhance the cultural life of the mid-Atlantic region by offering professionally staged operas and concerts.
