The Mariinsky Theatre has announced a star-studded cast for Verdi’s “Don Carlo” on Oct. 29 & Nov. 1.

The production is set to star Anna Netrebko as Elisabeth de Valois, Ekaterina Semenchuk as Princess Eboli, Yusif Eyvazov as Don Carlo, Ildar Abdrazakov as Philip II, and Mikhail Petrenko as The Grand Inquisitor.

The opera will be presented in Giorgio Barberio Corsetti’s production from 2012 and will be conducted by Valery Gergiev.

The production, which was supposed to take place on March 27, marks the return of Netrebko and Eyvazov to Russia following the postponement of their Russian tour. It also reunites Netrebko, Eyvazov, and Abdrazakov following a production of “Don Carlo” at the Bolshoi Theatre. Both Abdrazakov and Netrebko tested positive for COVID-19 following that “Don Carlo.”
