Anna Netrebko & Yusif Eyvazov Cancel ‘Adriana Lecovreur’

By Francisco Salazar

Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov have withdrawn from the Baden Baden festival’s production of “Adriana Lecovreur.”

The festival announced that due to a virus both singers have been forced to cancel the two performances scheduled for July 20 and 23. As a result, the Baden Baden Festival was able to recruit Tatiana Serjan in the title role and rising star tenor Migran Agadzhanyan in the role of Maurizio.

Serjan is one of the most sought-after dramatic sopranos of her generation. A regular of the Mariinsky Theatre, she has performed under Riccardo Muti numerous times and has appeared at the leading theaters including the Teatro Regio, teh Opera di Roma, and Salzburg Festival.

Agadzhanyan is a rising star who was part of LA Opera’s Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program and has performed in such theaters as the Mariinsky Theatre, Grand Théâtre de Geneve, Wexford Festival Opera, and Teatro Regio di Parma.

Netrebko and Eyvazov are expected to return to the stage for their South America tour.
