Anna Netrebko is set to make her Bayreuth Festival debut in 2019.

The festival confirmed that the Russian soprano would sing two performances of Wagner’s “Lohengrin” next year.

Netrebko, who was originally asked to open the new production by Yuval Sharon this year, made her role debut as Elsa in 2016 at the Dresden Semperoper and later went on to perform it at the Mariinsky Theatre under Valery Gergiev. The soprano received rave reviews with OperaWire noting, that she was “unforgettable” and she sang with “a Bel Canto and Italianate fashion.”

Netrebko’s Bayreuth Festival debut is one of two high profile debuts next summer as she will be making her first appearance at the Arena di Verona. Additionally, Netrebko will make a role debut as Leonora in “La Forza del Destino” at the Royal Opera House alongside Jonas Kaufmann. Next, the soprano embarks on a tour through Latin America, where she will make her debut at the Teatro Colón in Argentina and is also set to perform in Chile, Brazil, and Peru.
