The Teatro Real de Madrid has announced its 2026-27 season.

Opera

Sondra Radvanovsky and Saioa Hernández lead Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut” with Lucas Meachem, Szymon Mechliński, Brian Jagde,, Michael Fabiano and Jorge de Leon. Nicola Luisotti conducts Carlos Wagner’s production.

Performance Dates: Sept. 23-Oct. 11, 2026


Paul Agnew conducts Handel’s “Riccardo Primo, rè d’Inghilterra” with Jakub Józef Orliński, Melissa Petit, Alex Rosen, Andreas Wolf, Juliette Mey, and Hugh Cutting.

Performance Date: Oct. 21, 2026


Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” will be conducted by Stefano Montanari and directed by Robert Carsen. Mattia Olivieri, Carles Pachon, Olga Kulchynska, Elsa Dreisig, Sara Blanch, Giulia Semenzato, Luca Micheletti, German Olvera, Cecilia Molinari, and Lucia Caihuela.

Henrik Nánási conducts “Bluebeard’s Castle” with Anna Netrebko and Alexander Köpeczi. The concert also includes music by Liszt with pianist Misi Boros.

Ludovic Tézier and Daniel Luis de Vicente lead Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra” with Hrachuhi Bassenz, Mané Galoyan, John Relyea, Alexander Vinogradov, Gianluca Buratto, Francesco Meli, and Piero Pretti. Nicola Luisotti and Daniel Montané conduct Pierre Audi’s production.

Julia Doyle, Tim Mead, Thomas Hobbs, and Roderick Williams lead Händel’s “Messiah” with Justin Doyle conducting.

Sonya Yoncheva leads Giordano’s “Fedora” with Sabina Puertolas, Luciano Ganci and George Petean. Daniel Oren conducts.

Performance Dates: Jan. 10 & Feb. 7, 2027


Janácek’s “Káťa Kabanová” will star Peter Kalman, Matthew Newlin, Christa Mayer, Mané Galoyan, Michael Laurenz, and Bogdan Volkov. Gustavo Gimeno conducts the production by Christof Loy.

Performance Dates: Feb. 13-March 5, 2027


Busto’s “Bodas de Sangre” will star Marina Monzo, Ana Ibarra, Marina Pardo, Vicky Pena, Maria Terremoto, Reyes Carrasco, Ana Morales Santiago Sanchez, Jose Antonio Lopez, and Luis Cansino. Manuel Busto conducts the production by Bárbara Lluch.

Wagner’s “Tannhäuser” will star George Zeppenfeld, Clay Hilley, Andreas Schager, Ludovic Tezier, Andre Schuen, Airam Hernandez, Levente Pall, Malin Bystrom, Elisabeth Teige, Ausrine Stundyte, and Irene Roberts. Gustavo Gimeno conducts the production by David Hermann.

Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” will star Rene Barbera, Pietro Adaini, Dave Monaco, Misha Kiria, Nicola Alaimo, Pablo Ruiz, Marina Viotti, Isabel Leonard, Olga Syniakova, Andrzej Filończyk, Florian Sempey, German Olvera, Roberto Tagliavini, Maharram Huseynov, and Alejandro Lopez. Giacomo Sagripanti conducts the production by Damiano Michieletto.
