Anna Netrebko, Sondra Radvanovsky, Benjamin Bernheim & Ludovic Tézier Lead Opéra de Paris’ 2023-24 Season

The Opéra de Paris has announced its 2023-24 Season featuring many new productions and many of the great stars in the world.

Alexander Soddy conducts Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” with a cast that includes Peter Mattei, Kyle Ketelsen, Adela Zaharia, Julia Kleiter, Ben Bliss, Cyrille Dubois, John Relyea, Gaëlle Arquez, Tara Erraught, Alex Esposito, Bogdan Talos, Guilhem Worms, Ying Fang, and Marine Chagnon.

Performance Dates: Sept. 13-Oct. 12, 2023

Speranza Scappucci conducts Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” with Laurent Naouri, Florian Sempey, René Barbera, and Julie Fuchs.

Performance Dates: Sept. 14-Oct. 13, 2023

Piotr Beczala brings his acclaimed turn as Wagner’s Lohengrin to Paris in a new production by Kirill Serebrennikov. Gustavo Dudamel conducts a cast that includes Johanni van Oostrum,  Sinead Campbell Wallace, Kwangchul Youn, Wolfgang Koch, Nina Stemme, Ekaterina Gubanova, and Shen Yang.

Performance Dates: Sept. 23-Oct. 27, 2023

Janáček’s “The Makropulos Affair” is set to star Karita Mattila, Pavel Černoch, Nicholas Jones, Ilanah Lobel-Torres, Johan Reuter, and Cyrille Dubois. Susanna Mälkki conducts.

Performance Dates: Oct. 5-17, 2023

Jeanine de Bique, Daniela Barcellona, Paula Murrihy, Caroline Wettergreen,Emy Gazeilles, Marine Chagnon, Laurent Naouri, and Philippe Rouillon star in Massenet’s “Cendrillon.” Keri-Lynn Wilson conducts.

Performance Dates: Oct. 25-Nov. 16, 2023

Sondra Radvanovsky and Tamara Wilson star in Puccini’s “Turandot” with Brian Jagde, Gregory Kunde, Ermonela Jaho, Adriana Gonzalez, Carlo Bosi, and Mika Kares. Marco Armiliato and Michele Spotti conduct.

Performance Dates: Nov. 6-29, 2023

Benjamin Bernheim and Dmitry Korchak alternate the title role of Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann.” They will be joined by Pretty Yende, Antoinette Dennefeld, Rachel Willis-Sørensen, Christian van Horn, and Angela Brower.

Performance Dates: Nov. 30-Dec. 27, 2023

Richard Jones directs a double bill of “Ma Mère l’Oye / L’Enfant et les sortilèges” with conductor Patrick Lange.

Anna Netrebko and Anna Pirozzi alternate the title role of Cilea’s “Adriana Lecouvreur.” Jader Bignamini conducts a cast that also includes Yusif Eyvazov, Giorgio Berrugi, Ekaterina Semenchuk, Clémentine Margaine, and Ambrogio Maestri.

Performance Dates: Jan. 16-Feb. 7, 2024

Handel’s “Giulio Cesare” will be conducted by Harry Bicket and will star Emily d’Angelo, Adrien Mathonat, Wiebke Lehmkuhl, Marianne Crebassa, Lisette Oropesa, Iestyn Davies, Luca Pisaroni, and Rémy Brès.

Nadine Sierra and Pretty Yende star in Verdi’s “La Traviata” with Giacomo Sagripanti conducting. René Barbera and Ludovic Tézier also star.

Quinn Kelsey, Tamara Wilson, J’Nai Bridges, Pene Pati, Amitai Pati star in Bellini’s rarely performed “Beatrice di Tenda.” Peter Sellars directs the new production with Mark Wigglesworth conducting.

Performance Dates: Feb. 9-March 7, 2024

Thomas Ades’ “The Exterminating Angel” will star Jacquelyn Stucker, Caroline Wettergreen, Hilary Summers, Claudia Boyle, Christine Rice, Anna Prohaska, Nicky Spence, Frédéric Antoun, Jarrett Ott, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Filipe Manu, Philippe Sly, Paul Gay, and Rod Gilfry. Gustavo Dudamel conducts the production by Calixto Bieito.

Performance Dates: Feb. 29-March 23, 2024

Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra” will star Ludovic Tézier, Nicole Car, Mika Kares, Charles Castronovo, and Étienne Dupuis. Thomas Hengelbrock conducts.

David McVicar directs Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s “Médée.” William Christie conducts a cast that includes Léa Desandre, Reinoud van Mechelen, Laurent Naouri, Ana Vieira Leite, Gordon Bintner, Emmanuelle Negri, Élodie Fonnard, Lisandro Abadie, Julie Roset, and Mariasole Mainini.

Performance Dates: April 10 – May 11, 2024

Lise Davidsen stars in Strauss’ “Salome,” with Mark Wigglesworth conducting a cast that includes Gerhard Siegel, Ekaterina Gubanova, Johan Reuter, and Pavol Breslik.

Performance Dates: May 9-28, 2024

Damiano Michieletto directs Massenet’s “Don Quichotte” with Mikhaïl Tatarnikov conducting. The cast includes Marianne Crebassa, Ildar Abdrazakov, Ildebrando d’Arcangelo, Étienne Dupuis, Emy Gazeilles, Marine Chagnon, Maciej Kawśnikowski, and Nicholas Jones

Performance Dates: May 10-June 11, 2024

Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” will be conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado and will star Vannina Santoni, Angela Brower, Hera Hyesang Park, Josh Lovell, Gordon Bintner, and Paulo Szot.

Performance Dates: June 10-July 9, 2024

Spontini’s “La Vestale” will be directed by Lydia Steier and will be conducted by Bertrand de Billy. Michael Spyres, Julien Behr, Jean Teitgen, Florent Mbia, Elza van den Heever, and Ève-Maud Hubeaux star.
