Anna Netrebko & Maria Guleghina & The Top 6 Operas To See This Weekend – International Edition

This weekend will be dedicated to favorites with some of the biggest singers performing signature roles.

Turandot – Teatro Colón, Argentina

Maria Guleghina stars in the title role of Puccini’s final work. The soprano appears alongside Verónica Cangemi, Kristian Benedikt, and legendary bass James Morris. Christian Badea conducts.

Les Huguenots – Semperoper Dresden, Germany

Venera Gimadieva and Jennifer Rowley make their highly anticipated role debuts in Meyerbeer’s masterpiece. Peter Konwitschny directs the new production, which will also star John Osborn, John Relyea, Christoph Pohl, Tilmann Ronnebeck, and Stephanka Pucalkova. Stefan Stoltesz conducts.

Rigoletto – Berlin Staatsoper, Germany

Michael Fabiano sings his final Duke in Bartlett Sher’s production, which is set for the Metropolitan Opera. He is joined by Christopher Maltman in the title role, Nadine Sierra as Gilda, Grigory Shkarupa, and Elena Maximova. Andrés Orozco-Estrada conducts the final performance.

Il Trovatore – Arena di Verona, Italy

Anna Netrebko makes her highly anticipated debut at the famed arena in one of her signature roles. She is joined by husband Yusif Eyvazov and frequent collaborators Dolora Zajick and Luca Salsi.  Pier Giorgio Morandi conducts the production by Franco Zeffirelli.

Don Giovanni – Teatro La Fenice, Itay

Alessio Arduini, Francesca Dotto, Carmela Remigio, Juan Francisco Gatell, Omar Montanari, Giulia Semenzato, William Corrò, and Attila Jun star in Mozart’s masterpiece. Jonathan Webb conducts the new production by Damiano Michieletto.

Lucia di Lammermoor – Palau de Les Arts, Spain

Jessica Pratt sings her signature Lucia in a production by Jean-Louis Grinda. OperaWire raved about Pratt stating “On opening night, she showed exactly why she is a major exponent of this opera.” The opera also stars Yijie Shi, Alessandro Luongo, Alexánder Vinogradov, and Xabier Anduaga. Robert Abbado stars.
