Anna Netrebko, Luca Salsi & Yusif Eyvazov Headline Teatro dell’Opera di Roma’s Summer Season

The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma has announced its summer season at Circo Massimo.

The season, which open on July 16 and runs through August 13, begins with Verdi’s “Rigoletto” conducted by Daniele Gatti in a new production by Damiano Michieletto. The opera will star Iván Ayón Rivas as the Duca di Mantova, Luca Salsi as Rigoletto, Rosa Feola as Gilda, Riccardo Zanellato as Sparafucile, and Martina Belli as Maddalena.

The opera will be shown on July 16 with the performance shown live on RAI 5 and will also be performed on July 18 and 20.

Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Sivilgia” will be followed with a cast that includesDavide Luciano in the title role, Giorgio Misseri as Conte d’Almaviva, Chiara Amarù and Miriam Albano alternating the role of Rosina, Marco Filippo Romano as Don Bartolo, and Nicola Ulivieri as Don Basilio. Roberto Gabbiani conducts.

Performances are set for July 22, 29, August 1, 4, 8, 11, and 13.

The company will also present the Four seasons in ballet. Giuliano Peparini will direct the production, which will also feature the voice of Alessandro Preziosi. Vincenzo Bolognese conducts and performs soloist.

Performances will be held on July 26, 30, August 2, and 3.

Lehár’s “The Merry Widow” will be performed in concert form with Nadja Mchantaf, Markus Werba, Andrea Concetti, Hasmik Torosyan, Juan Francisco Gatell, Simon Schnorr, Marcello Nardis,  Roberto Maietta, Andrii Ganchuk, and Sara Rocchi. Roberto Gabbiani conducts.

Performances are scheduled for July 31, August 5, 7, and 12.

Anna Netrebko and Yusi Eyvazov will present a gala of music by Verdi, Cilea, Puccini, Glinka, Dvorák, Mascagni, and Giordano. Jader Bignamini conducts the gala, slated to be performed on August 6 and 9.
