Opera
Nicola Luisotti and Lorenzo Passerini conduct a production of Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera“ directed by Gianmaria Aliverta. The production stars Michael Fabiano and Ramón Vargas as Riccardo, Anna Pirozzi and Tatiana Serjan as Amelia, Artur Ruciński and George Petean as Renato, Daniela Barcellona and María José Montiel as Ulrica, and Elena Sancho Pereg and Isabella Gaudí as Oscar.
Performance Dates: Sept. 18 – Oct. 14, 2020
“El Nacimiento del Rey Sol” featuring music by Cambefort, Boësset, Constantin, Lambert, Cavalli, and Rossi will be conducted by Sébastien Daucé. The concert performance will star Lucile Richardot, Caroline Weynants, Caroline Dangin-Bardot, Perrine Devillers, Deborah Cachet, Ilektra Platiopoulou, David Tricou, Étienne Bazola, Renaud Bres, and Nicolas Brooymans.

Dvořák’s “Rusalka” will get a new production by Christof Loy. Ivor Bolton conducts the production, which is set to star Asmik Grigorian and Olesya Golovneva in the title role, Eric Cutler and David Butt Philip as the Prince, Karita Mattila and Alexandra Deshorties as the Foreign Princess, Maxim Kuzmin-Karavaev and Steven Humes as Vodnik, and Katarina Dalayman and Okka von der Damerau as Ježibaba.

Ivor Bolton conducts Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” with Christopher Maltman, Adrian Eröd, and Craig Verm sharing the title role. The opera will star Tobias Kehrer, Goran Juric, Brenda Rae, Adela Zaharia, María José Moreno, Mauro Peter, Anett Fritsch, Federica Lombardi, Erwin Schrott, Marko Mimica, Krysztof Baczyk, Cody Quattlebaum, Louise Alder, and Marina Monzó.
Performance Dates: Dec. 18, 2020-Jan. 10, 2021
Alonso’s “Marie” will star Xavier Sabata and Jordi Domènech as Woyzeck and Nicola Beller Carbone and Valentina Coladonato as Shades of Marie.

Irene Theorin, Anna Larsson, Lise Davidsen, Stefan Vinke, and Peixin Chen perform a concert performance of R. Strauss’ “Elektra.”

Andreas Schager star in Wagner’s “Siegfried“ with Pablo Heras-Casado conducting Robert Carsen’s production. The cast also includes Andreas Conrad, Tomasz Konieczny, Martin Winkler, Jongmin Park, Ronnita Miller, Ricarda Merbeth, and Leonor Bonilla.

Maurizio Benini conducts a new production of Bellini’s “Norma“ directed by Justin Way. The opera will star Michael Spyres, John Osborn, Roberto Tagliavini, Fernando Radó, Yolanda Auyanet, Hibla Gerzmava, Clémentine Margaine, and Annalisa Stroppa.

Allan Clayton sings the title role in Britten’s “Peter Grimes“ in a new production by Deborah Warner. Ivor Bolton conducts the cast that also includes Maria Bengtsson, Christopher Purves, Catherine Wyn-Rogers, and John Graham Hall.

Katie Mitchell directs the Spanish premiere of George Benjamin’s “Lessons of Love and Violence.” Josep Pons directs the production which stars Stéphane Degout, Gyula Orendt, Georgia Jarman, Peter Hoare, Samuel Boden, Ocean Barrington-Cook, Isabella Gaudí, Marta Fontanals-Simmons, and Toni Marsol.

Zubiaurre’s “Don Fernando, el Emplazado” is set to be conducted by José Miguel Pérez Sierra with a cast that includes Miren Urbieta Vega, Cristina Faus, Damián del Castillo, José Bros, Fernando Radó, Gerardo López, Vicenç Esteve, and Gerardo Bullón.

Torres’ “Tránsito” gets its world premiere with Eduardo Vasco directing. Jordi Franc conducts the opera with Lydia Vinyes-Curtis, Isaac Galán, María Miró, Javier Franco, and José Manuel Sánchez.

Evelino Pidò and José Miguel Pérez Sierra conduct the Teatro Real premiere of Donizetti’s “Viva la Mama” with Laurent Pelly directing.
