Anna Netrebko, Freddie De Tommaso, Marina Rebeka, Bryn Terfel, Aigul Akhmetshina, Lisette Oropesa, Juan Diego Flórez & Pretty Yende Lead Royal Ballet & Opera’s 2025-26 Season

The Royal Ballet and Opera has announced its 2025-26 season.

The season opens with Puccini’s “Tosca” in a new production by Oliver Mears. Anna Netrebko and Aleksandra Kurzak share the title role. Freddie De Tommaso and Gerald Finley also star.

Performance Dates: Sept. 11-Oct. 7, 2025


Speranza Scappucci conducts Verdi’s “I vespri siciliani” in a revival of Stefan Herheim’s production. Marina Rebeka, Seokjong Baek, Ildebrando D’arcangelo, and Quinn Kelsey star.

Performance Dates: Sept. 16-Oct. 6, 2025


Kateřina Kněžíková, Pavel Černoch, and Pavol Kubá perform in The Music Director Concert. The program includes music by Béla Bartók and Antonín Dvořák.

Performance Date: Sept. 20, 2025


Polly Leech, Keri Fuge, Esme Bronwen-Smith, Jake Arditti, Benjamin Hulett, and Jonathan Lemal star in Händel’s “Giustino.” David Bates conducts the production by Joe Hill-Gibbons.

Performance Date: Oct. 7-18, 2025


Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” will star Julia Bullock, Lucy Crowe, Amitai Pati, Mingjie Lei, Huw Montague Rendall, Kathryn Lewek, Annie Fassea, Soloman Howard, Timo Riihonen, and Gerhard Siegel. Marie Jacquot and Finnegan Downie Dear conduct.

Performance Dates: Oct. 10-Nov. 3, 2025


Meet the Jette Parker Artists will feature Hannah Edmunds, Marianna Hovanisyan, Jingwen Cai, Ellen Pearson, Emmanuel Fonoti-fuimaono, Giorgi Guliashvili, Emyr Lloyd Jones, Sam Hird, Siphe Kwani, and Ossian Huskinson. Peggy Wu conducts.

Performance Date: Oct. 16, 2025


Katie Mitchell directs the first-ever staging with The Royal Opera, Janáček’s “The Makropulos Case.” Ausrine Stundyte stars alongside Sean Panikkar, Johan Reuter, Henry Waddington, Peter Hoare, Daniel Matoušek, and Alan Oke.

Performance Dates: Nov. 4-21, 2025


Oliver Leith and Matt Copson’s “Last Days” will be adapted from Gus Van Sant’s 2005 film loosely based on the final days of grunge icon Kurt Cobain. Jack Sheen and Naomi Woo conduct.

Performance Dates: Dec. 5, 2025-Jan. 3, 2026


Stefano Montanari conducts a new production of Händel’s “Ariodante” with Jetske Mijnssen directing. The cast includes Emily D’angelo, Jacquelyn Stucker, Elena Villalón, Christophe Dumaux, Ed Lyon, Peter Kellner, and Emyr Lloyd Jones.

Performance Dates: Dec. 9-21, 2025


Puccini’s “Turandot” will be conducted by Daniel Oren and Richard Hetherington. Anna Netrebko, Maida Hundeling, and Anna Pirozzi share the title role across several cast also starring Yusif Eyvazov, Arsen Soghomonyan, Roberto Alagna, Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, Juliana Grigoryan, Rafał Siwek, and Vitalij Kowaljow.

Performance Dates: Dec. 15, 2025-Feb. 4, 2026


Three casts will be showcased in Verdi’s “La Traviata.” Ermonela Jaho, Pretty Yende, and Rachel Willis-Sørensen sing the lead role of Violetta. Joining them are Giovanni Sala, Bekhzod Davronov, Charles Castronovo, Aleksei Isaev, Amartuvshin Enkhbat, and Christoph Pohl. Antonello Manacorda and  Giacomo Sagripanti conduct.

Performance Dates: Jan. 8, 2025-Feb. 17, 2026


Bryn Terfel leads Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godunov” with Adam Palka, Andrii Kymach, Jamez Mccorkle, John Daszak, Alexander Roslavets, Alasdair Elliott, Hannah Edmunds, and Carolyn Holt. Mark Wigglesworth conducts.

Performance Dates: Jan. 29, 2025-Feb. 18, 2026


Antonio Pappano conducts a new production of Wagner’s “Siegfried” with Barrie Kosky directing. Andreas Schager, Peter Hoare, Christopher Maltman, Elisabet Strid, Christopher Purves, Soloman Howard, Wiebke Lehmkuhl, and Sarah Dufresne star.

Performance Dates: March 17-April 6, 2026


Mark Elder conducts Verdi’s “Rigoletto,” which features George Petean, Daniel Luis De Vicente, Aida Garifullina, Rosa Feola, Robyn Allegra Parton, Liparit Avetisyan, Iván Ayón Rivas, Andrea Mastroni, Alexander Köpeczi, Anne Marie Stanley, and Elena Maximova.

Performance Dates: March 25-April 23, 2026


Britten’s “The Turn of Screw” will receive a new production by Natalie Abrahami and Michael Levine. Bassem Akiki conducts.

The Jette Parker Artists will present Three Chamber Operas. Talia Stern directs and Peggy Wu conducts the operas “The Departure,” “Making Arrangement,” and “Four Sisters.” The operas will star Hannah Edmunds, Marianna Hovanisyan, Ellen Pearson, Jingwen Ca, Sam Hird, and Giorgi Guliashvili.

Allan Clayton, Maria Bengtsson, Bryn Terfel, Clive Bayley, Jacques Imbrailo, Catherine Wyn-Rogers, and Christine Rice star in Britten’s “Peter Grimes.” Jakub Hrůša conducts.

SeokJong Baek and Aigul Akhmetshina star in Richard Jones’ production of Saint-Saëns’ “Samson et Dalila.” Łukasz Goliński and William Thomas also star, while Alexander Soddy conducts.

The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera come together with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and Royal Opera Chorus in a special gala evening of music and dance.

The Royal Opera’s new Associate Director Netia Jones curates a four-day festival entitled “RBO/Shift” exploring the shifting boundary between opera and technology. The focus for the first festival is the ever-growing world of artificial intelligence.

Richard Jones directs a new production of Bellini’s “I Puritani” with Lisette Oropesa, Francesco Demuro, Ildebrando D’Arcangelo, and Andrzej Filończyk. Riccardo Frizza conducts.

Juliana Grigoryan and Hrachuhí Bassénz lead Puccini’s “La Bohème” with Freddie De Tommaso, Stefan Pop, Luca Micheletti, Germán E. Alcántara, Marina Monzó, Ruth Iniesta, Modestas Sedlevičius, Pierre Doyen, Gianluca Buratto, and Giorgi Manoshvili. Lorenzo Passerini and Christopher Willis conduct.

Sara Blanch, Juan Diego Flórez, Jonah Hoskins, Paolo Bordogna, Sonia Ganassi, and Donald Maxwel lead Donizetti’s “La Fille du Regiment.” Yves Abel conducts.
