Anna Netrebko, Anita Rachvelishvili, Elīna Garanča Headline Teatro di San Carlo’s Summer 2021 Season

The Teatro di San Carlo has announced its 2021 summer season which is set to take place between June 25 and July 17, 2021.

The showcases will take place at the Piazza del Plebiscito.

“We are proud to announce, thanks to the support of the Campania Region, the second edition of the Regione Lirica festival,” stated Superintendent of the Teatro di San Carlo Stéphane Lissner in a press release, “a summer program with which the San Carlo Theater confirms itself as a reference point among the international music scene. I would like to thank not only the President Vincenzo De Luca but also all the workers of the Theater to whom I extend my thoughts and my gratitude after the difficult year we are finally leaving behind. Together with them we want to slowly bring the San Carlo back to normality, without forgetting the challenges that contemporaneity has imposed on us.”

The season kicks off with a performance of “Carmen” starring Elīna Garanča, Jean-François Borras, Mattia Olivieri, and Selene Zanetti, among others. Dan Ettinger will conduct the showcase.

Performance Date: June 25, 2021

Anna Netrebko, Yusif Eyvazov, Luca Salsi, and Anita Rachvelishvili will headline a concert version of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore.” Other cast members include Andrea Mastroni, Vittoriana De Amicis, and Gabriele Mangione. Marco Armiliato conducts the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro di San Carlo.

Performance Date: July 15, 2021

The company also unveiled that if theaters are able to reopen, there will be a staged production of “L’Elisir d’Amore” directed by Damiano Michieletto starring Rosa Feola, Xabier Anduaga, Gabriele Viviani, and Nicola Alaimo. Riccardo Frizza will conduct.

Performance Date: July 25-31, 2021
