Anna Maria Meo Named President of Opera Europa

The Teatro Regio di Parma’s General Director Anna Maria Meo has been voted president of Opera Europa.

The organization’s Administration voted on Meo, who will become the first Italian woman to hold the position for the organization, which was founded in 2002.

Meo became a member of Opera Europa’s board in 2018 and became the vice president of the organization in 2019.

In a statement, Meo said, “I am very happy about this. This is a prestigious recognition for Italian theaters especially for the Teatro Regio di Parma, which has in the last years worked with the initiatives and projects promoted by the association.”

Opera Europa represents 210 European companies and festivals from 43 different companies and collaborated with some of the world’s greatest associations including Opera America. Opera Europea also offered annual conferences and seminars and is the creator of the streaming platform OperaVision.
