Ann Petersen Leads Polish National Opera’s ‘Fidelio’

The Polish National Opera is set to perform a new production of Beethoven’s “Fidelio.”

The showcase, which is set to open on Oct. 24, is a co-production of the Polish National Opera, Royal Danish Theatre, and Nederlandse Reisopera. The Beethoven opera will be directed by John Fulljames and will star Danish soprano Ann Petersen as Leonore alongside Torsten Kerl as Florestan.

They be accompanied by Daniel Sutin as Don Fernando, Krzysztof Szumański as Don Pizarro, Krzysztof Borysiewicz as Rocco, Emil Ławecki as Jaquino, and Maria Stasiak as Marcelina. Lothar Koenigs conducts.

Prior to the premiere, Ruch Muzyczny will sponsor a talk with the cast and creative team of the production including Ann Petersen and Torsten Kerl, director John Fulljames, and stage designer Steffen Aarfing. The event will be hosted by Ruch Muzyczny journalists, Dominika Micał and Maciej Kucharski.

“Fidelio” will also be performed on Oct. 27, 29, and 31.
