The Polish National Opera has announced its 2021-22 season featuring 6 new productions, 13 operas, 6 ballets, and concerts. Here is a look at the operatic selections for the season.

Revivals 

Torsten Kerl and Ann Petersen lead Beethoven’s “Fidelio“ in a new production by John Fulljames. Gerd Schaller conducts the cast that also includes Krzysztof Borysiewicz, Maria Stasiak, Daniel Sutin, and Krzysztof Szumański.

Performance Dates: Oct. 24-31, 2021

Puccini’s “La bohème” will be directed by Barbara Wysocka and will star Maria Domżał, Adriana Ferfecka, Jarosław Kwaśniewski, Anna Jeruć, Aleksandra Orłowska, Szymon Mechliński, and Tomasz Rak. Patrick Fournillier conducts.

Jarecki’s “Barbara Radziwiłł” will be conducted by Marta Kluczyńska.

Mariusz Treliński directs a new production of Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godunov.”

Revivals 

Joanna Moskowicz, Kacper Szelążek, and Stanislav Kuflyuk star in Orff’s “Carmina Burana” with Lorenzo Passerini conducting.

Leonardo Caimi sings the title role of “Werther“ in Massenet’s masterpiece. He will be accompanied Iryna Zhytynska, Stanislav Kuflyuk, and Sylwia Olszyńska. Patrick Fournillier conducts.

Piotr Staniszewski conducts Barrie Kosky’s production of Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte.”
