The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra has announced the extension of Earl Lee’s contract as Music Director for an additional three seasons through 2030.

Lee’s tenure will include the orchestra’s 100th anniversary in 2028.

Since joining the orchestra in July 2022, Lee has revitalized the ensemble’s artistic vision with programming that bridges tradition and innovation.

In a statement he said, Earl said, “Ann Arbor has welcomed me with open arms, and I have fallen in love with its distinctive personality. This city is a mosaic of people, ideas, traditions, and perspectives, and that diversity is a constant source of inspiration for me.”

Lee is a winner of the 2022 Sir Georg Solti Conducting Award and has led many of North America’s foremost orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
