The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced its 2022-23 season featuring seven new productions.

Premieres

R.Strauss’ “Arabella” will be conducted by Sir Donald Runnicles in a new production by Tobias Kratzer. Albert Pesendorfer, Doris Soffel, Rachel Willis-Sørensen, Elena Tsallagova, and Russell Braun.

Performance Dates: March 18-April 6, 2023

Arne Gieshoff and Franziska Angerer’s “Bear” will have its world premiere.

Performance Dates: June 21-July 1, 2023

Sir Donald Runnicles and Dominic Limburg conduct a new production of Beethoven’s “Fidelio” directed by David Hermann. Thomas Lehman, Philipp Jekal, Markus Brück, Jordan Shanahan, Robert Watson, Klaus Florian Vogt, Ingela Brimberg, Flurina Stucki, Tobias Kehrer, Ante Jerkunica, Elisa Verzier, Meechot Marrero, Gideon Poppe, and Ya-Chung Huang.

Performance Dates: Nov. 25, 2022-Feb. 26, 2023

Enrique Mazzola conducts Massenet’s “Hérodiade” with Étienne Dupuis, Clémentine Margaine, Matthew Polenzani, Nicole Car, and Marko Mimica.

Performance Dates: June 15 & 18, 2023

Giorgio Battistelli’s “Il Teorema di Pasolini” will make its world premiere with Daniel Cohen conducting the first production by Dead Centre. The opera will star Barbara Frittoli, Davide Damiani, Monica Bacelli, Samuel Dale Johnson, Meechot Marrero, and Andrei Danilov.

Alessandro De Marchi conducts a new production of Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion.” Benedikt von Peter directs wih Sebastian Kohlhepp, Padraic Rowan, Joel Allison, Kieran Carrel, Michael Bachtadze, Dean Murphy, Elbenita Kajtazi, and Annika Schlicht.

Performance Dates: May 5-21 2023

Jader Bignamini and Yi-Chen Lin conduct a new production of Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra” with Vasily Barkhatov directing. George Petean and Dong-Hwan Lee sing the title role with Liang Li, Ante Jerkunica, Angel Blue, Flurina Stucki, Attilio Glaser, and Jorge Puerta.
